We had to stay at the LA Convention Center for work and needed something reasonably priced. This was still expensive, but less so than other nearby properties. The hotel and staff were good and the room was nice and clean, but we were next to the elevators and there were noisy people at night. Also, there was a bit of noise from the street outside, which made it difficult to sleep. Area restaurants are all very expensive and $45/night for parking is expensive

It's a grand old hotel that is visually appealing. However, single-pane wood-frame windows that don't close, letting in wind and noise, aren't good enough in this price range. Not the best or safest area to walk around at night. The bathrooms are reminiscent of the 1950's and are not heated, so you're in for a nasty surprise when you go to the bathroom in the morning.

If you like to stay in a clean place, don't stay here. It was absolutely bad.... The bathroom is in disrepair, the carpets very questionable to walk on. All the photos are deceiving and the hotel's charm ends in the lobby. I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me.

Toilet was not very clean. Very disappointed in the room. I understand this is a very old hotel, but at the very least it should be well maintained. The color of the toilet came out, as did the cabinet doors and frames. Not what I expected.

The lobby is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are big, just very dated, with very small beds. Parking is ridiculous and expensive. It's $45 a night to park in their driveway, with hardly any parking unless you want to pay $60 to get your car fixed.

An unexpected additional daily setup fee? For what? The basics of any hotel. No shower curtain? It was added on our second night. How do you forget a shower curtain? Uncomfortable beds that don't fit two people. Not a great experience.

Drive safely to the lobby. Delicious Bubba Tea Maker. Very nice and clean. Reception was always helpful. Housekeeping was so great with service. The hotel was also very clean. I felt like royalty here.

Carpet condition was appalling. The room was cold. I tried to raise the temperature, but cold air came out. The bed was very uncomfortable and worn out. There was a lot of smoke outside and it smelled disgusting. It was very difficult to breathe in some areas. On a positive note, getting to the cruise terminal by bus was easy and there was a HOHO stop right outside the hotel

The property itself is beautiful and a piece of LA history. Other than that, the windows were pretty dirty. It was cold in my room. The bedding smelled musty. The shower was small and the shower curtain didn't cover the entire length of the tub. The water leaked and wet all over the bathroom floor. I expected more from a 4 star hotel.

Yes, this hotel is "historic". They pay a lot of attention to the lobby. Your funding ends here. There is no hot water for the 4 days we were there. Oh, and if you're driving your own car, parking is $45/day, where you have to climb a sick spiral to the 9th or 10th floor to park (lower levels are reserved for valets and residents). You have to take an elevator down from the parking lot, cross two busy sidewalks separated by a narrow and steep staircase to the hotel, open an extremely heavy front door (there are no automatic doors here), and then take another elevator to the your room . The bathroom fixtures were dripping all night, the towel rails were falling off the wall and I don't think the windows have been washed since the Oscars were held there. I will never voluntarily return!

The property is beautiful when you first enter. You can tell that a lot of care and money has been spent on the lobby and main entry rooms. However, once you hit the living room floor, the glamor wears off. The rooms are extremely dated. The bathroom is old, the water pressure was low and the water splashes you and the bathtub looks clogged and would feel the shower water when taking a shower. The shower was missing tiles, the rooms were smaller than expected and we had to request a fridge for our room. This is usually the most basic convenience.

I was very disappointed in the sheets. They should be big enough that you don't lie DIRECTLY on the mattress. Disgusting. The bed size was a double, so it wasn't like anyone tried to make a king with a smaller sheet. They are very cheap to get the right size. I mentioned to the receptionist at checkout that the sheets were too small and I thought housekeeping just pulled the sheets to one side. I opened the bed to make it up, but it was actually too small to cover the mattress. He explained that most hotels don't have sheets. IDIOT. That is not what I said. I said yes, most hotels have flat sheets that they use to cover the mattress, but they actually cover the entire mattress. Not understanding that it was disgusting that the sheet was too small for the bed. I didn't have to fold the corners of the sheet and spread it corner to corner so my feet didn't touch the mattress. I loved this historic hotel when I first came to LA, but I won't be staying here again unless they really cover up the mattresses. WOW!

I said unfortunately "we" don't do that. I definitely can't say that most don't, as I've found some that do and some that don't. That said, I completely agree with you on what you told me and have passed your concerns on to our housekeeping department to investigate other bedding options. Once again, I apologize for the inconvenience you encountered. But we appreciate the feedback. I promise you it didn't fall on deaf ears. Thanks.

I didn't get the king size bed. I was instructed to take an upgraded 2 bed room on the 11th floor. I didn't use room service to clean the room, but I was given clean towels when I asked. Alma was the keeper and liked her sweet personality. I had reasonably decent eyesight. Overall I would stay here again.

The hotel staff were great, very friendly and welcoming. Being in the city center it can get a little noisy, but nothing unexpected. The food was great, everything was very clean and well maintained.

Everything was terrible in this hotel!!! The photos are very beautiful, as well as the entrance! We stayed 3 nights and had to change rooms due to a number of issues! Everything was old! There was mold on the ceiling and it made me cough! ! In the second bedroom the dressing table was loose and old, the water pressure was terrible! !!
